Captain Barge Retires After 28 Years of Service

NORFOLK, Va.  – Capt. Thomas H. Barge II retired from the U.S. Navy, October 30, after more than 28 years of service.  The retirement ceremony was held at Sewell’s Point Golf Course club house in Norfolk, Va.  His last duty assignment was as the Director for Maintenance and Material Readiness at Commander, Submarine Force (COMSUBFOR) in Norfolk, Va.

Vice Adm. John J. Donnelly, Commander, Submarine Force was the guest speaker and presented Barge with his fourth Legion of Merit Medal.  The award cited Barge for significantly upgrading the material condition of the submarine force by improving depot and operational maintenance performance, and spearheading and leading the way forward on science investment, war gaming, and development of future capabilities.
